Britcar: Chris Murphy partners Jody Fannin for Dunlop Endurance Championship
1st March 2016
At just 22 years of age, BRDC Rising Star Jody Fannin is already moving in motorsport circles that many other drivers can only dream of. Recently announced as a returnee to British GT alongside Pete Littler, Jody will also pilot a GT4 Aston Martin in the Britcar Dunlop Endurance Championship this season, sharing the drive with Chris Murphy.
Jody dominated the British GT GT4 class with an overall win in 2012 then claimed two podiums last year aboard a similar TF Sport-run Aston Martin V12 Vantage, having made the move up to the quicker GT3 cars. Jody also brings experience of racing in Europe from time in both the Blancpain Endurance Series and International GT Open. Half South-African and coming from three seasons in karting, Jody has been a regular at Le Mans since he was 7 and would love to return one day as a driver.
From Oxfordshire, Champion Quad bike racer Chris Murphy will join Jody to fulfil a long-standing ambition to move into car racing, driving the new Aston Martin GT4 pictured here at Prodrives’ new factory at Banbury. He will test in the car at Valencia to ready himself for the 8-round season which kicks off at Silverstone on 26th March.
Chris has wanted to race cars since participating in Autotests with Witney Motor Club 37 years ago, but at the time was unable to make the commitment as he was busy building up his successful distribution company and raising a young family. Instead he took up quad motor cross racing in 1997, a year after starting his young son Stefan in the sport, and has competed in the off road sport ever since.
“I have completed numerous trackdays with Zak Mercer and hired a Renault Clio from Mark Fish Motorsport for general tests and to learn the circuits. I am not setting any real targets for my first season, apart from not finishing last!”
