Brit Jack Harvey to race Indy 500 with Andretti Autosport

12th April 2017

Britain’s Jack Harvey will race at this year’s 101st running of the infamous Indy 500 with the Andretti Autosport Team.

The 23 year-old 2012 British F3 champion, who finished runner-up in both his rookie season and the following 2015 season in the Indy Lights feeder series, will graduate and join the Andretti team who won the race last year.

Harvey, who only lost out on a rookie Indy Lights title victory owing to the eventual winner having secured more second place finishes, will drive the #50 Honda powered car.

He has amassed successful Indianapolis experience with wins in both the Grand Prix of India polis and the Freedom 100 in 2015. But the 2017 500-mile event will be the first top-flight IndyCar race.

Harvey said: “The Indy500 is easily the biggest race I have entered in my career so far”

“It is one of the most iconic races in the world and I feel extremely privileged to be taking part in it.  To have the opportunity to do this with one of the best teams on the grid – a team that has won two of the last three races there – is more than I could have dreamed of.  We have been working incredibly hard over the last 18 months to make this happen and it’s hard to put into words what this means to me”.

“I also want to make a special mention of my Uncle who sadly passed away suddenly in February. He was one of my biggest supporters, and would have been so happy to see me fulfil this dream.  I will be racing for him on the 28th May.”
