CSCC METEOR SUSPENSION OPEN SERIES

Championship Profile

CSCC METEOR SUSPENSION OPEN SERIES

The Meteor Suspension Open Series is the CSCC’s ninth race series and is new for 2016. Almost anything goes, just three main exclusions: no racing slicks/wets, no single seaters and no sports racers. The Meteor Suspension Open series is designed for almost all cars including production Saloon, Hatchback, Sevens, Sports, GT and Kit car marques of any age (excluding sports racers), running on treaded MSA list 1A/1B/1C or Historic tyres.

Having run individual Open races (Sports Vs Saloon) during 2015, being well supported by competitors and attracting a wide mix of cars, it is now an established series for 2016. The Meteor Suspension Open series allows cars with non standard engines, gearboxes and aerodynamics, providing it complies with MSA regulations, therefore cars which are unsuitable for our existing series are eligible to race within the Meteor Suspension Open series. The series is split into two groups, with group 1 for Sports, Saloons and Kit cars and group 2 for Lotus Seven type cars (Kit and Production), with the Class structure based on engine capacity. There are separate overall winners for each group.

The races are mostly 40 minutes in length, with a mandatory pit stop and qualifying on the same day. To help keep costs down, entries may either be a single driver, two drivers as a team sharing a single car or two drivers in two cars racing in a relay. Many CSCC drivers enter this series as a second race at the same meeting, if they do this then they receive a generous discount on this second race entry fee. Occasionally a single driver sprint race may be included on the calendar.
