BRSCC MAZDA MX-5 SUPERCUP

Championship Profile

BRSCC MAZDA MX-5 SUPERCUP

The MX-5 SuperCup takes this popular, fast and reliable sports car and with sensible performance modifications, creates a superb platform for competitive racing that is suitable for both experienced and novice drivers. These Mk3 cars, although modern, are not complicated and can be run from home (as many of our drivers do), or there are several specialist race preparers who offer race support as well as ‘Arrive and Drive’ packages.

The MX-5 SuperCup season is contested over 8 different meetings at the UKs top circuits, including world famous venues such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park. Race weekends are a mixture of double and triple header meetings, with a 20 minute qualifying session and 20 minute races at all events.

There are always battles throughout the field meaning that the winner is rarely decided before the final lap and the winning margin is often only tenths of a second! Multiple race winners throughout the season is the norm and in both 2013 & 2014 the championship remained undecided until the chequered flag dropped at the final race. While certainly competitive on track, the SuperCup prides itself on having drivers and teams who are always willing to lend a helping hand to their fellow competitors and who enjoy the atmosphere back in the paddock as much as the on track action.

No other UK championship offers such close and competitive racing between identical modern production sports cars, this cost effectively! Former champions and race winners in the MX-5 Mk3 championship have gone on to successfully compete in series such as the British GT Championship, Ginetta GT4 Supercup and the Renault UK Clio Cup, showing that the MX-5 SuperCup attracts and creates some of Britain’s best driving talent.

With the championship growing to become one of the most exciting and well supported race series in the country over the past few seasons, attracting many new fans and drivers along the way, there really is no better time to join the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 SuperCup!
