GT champions HHC Motorsport to make GT Cup Snetterton debut

12th October 2017

Experienced outfit HHC Motorsport will make its GT Cup debut at Snetterton this weekend (October 14/15) racing a GT4 Ginetta G55 in the ever-competitive Group GTA.

The squad knows its way around Ginetta cars, having taken two drivers championships this year with Callum Pointon in Supercup, and Will Tregurtha and Stuart Middleton in British GT.

“We’ve run the G55’s in the one make Ginetta Supercup championship and British GT this year,” said HHC Team Principal Charlie Kemp. “We’ve won titles in both, so I’d like to think that we know how to run these cars.”

Sharing the car at Snetterton will be British Touring Car Championship driver Will Burns, and Mike Newbould, who has raced to fifth place in the Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup this year. Both are familiar with the car having competed in Supercup previously, with Burns finishing second just one year ago.

The final round of the GT Cup is a perfect chance for teams and drivers to see what the championship has to offer for 2018, with three races over the two days at Snetterton on the 300 circuit.

“We’ve worked with Will before but Mike will be new to the team,” added Kemp. “Ultimately both drivers are looking at plans for 2018 and the GT Cup is the ideal option. It’s an opportunity for them to sample the GT car.”

Despite the pair’s familiarity with the G55, they’ll have their work cut out as they compete against 10 other cars in Group GTA. Dominic Paul has already sealed the Group title, but his Spy Motorsport team is still hunting the team championship. However with three different winners last time out at Donington Park, nothing is guaranteed at what is shaping up to be a tremendous season finale.
