Motorsport Days is about getting people out and onto a circuit.

30th March 2017

Having booked a track day through us, and having read or watched one of our in-depth track guides, you are now sat in the queue for the exit of the pit lane ready to drive in anger. The intentions are great, but the skills might not be. To that effect, MSD offers a range of driver tutors (to hire) to bring you up to speed.

It’s common practice for a track day novice to turn up under-tyred, with inadequate brakes or just with too much power for their experience. So, in order to maximise your own ability MSD offers professional help to ensure that you and the fellow track users can enjoy a safe and professional session.

Let’s take a closer look at a handful of tutors who work with MSD…

How good is Adam? Well, his 2017 team mate is Maro Engel- of Formula E fame- so Adam is one of the very best to have alongside you. He teaches both in the UK and internationally.

Leyton Clarke is an ARDS ‘A’ License Holder and has experience in the cockpit of LMP3 racers. But as Managing Director of RMA Track Days, this is a man well accustomed with the spectrum of track day etiquette and skill. With an internationally successful and respected company to his name, Leyton’s business relies on maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Part of this is derived from the driving standards that RMA Track Days operate with. Leyton can therefore offer this insight, experience and talent as an out and out racing driver to better your time behind the wheel.

Without including single seaters or CN cars, Ben Clucas has driven for over 25 different car marques. From Ford to Ferrari, from Lexus to Lamborghini; Ben has the ability to transfer the skills from front to rear-wheel-drive and from front to mid to rear engined layouts. He has a CV that includes cockpit time in British Touring Cars, DTM, V8 Supercars and Formula 1. Ben provides nationwide tuition, something he has done on behalf of 7 different manufacturers/tracks since 2004, alongside his judging commitments for the Nissan GTR Academy programme.

Getting tuition from John Norrington means that you are tapping in to over 40 years of experience. This means that John can provide assistance for any discipline, any car and to drivers of all levels of competence.  He is an MSA Level 2 coach who has coached over 5,000 pupils since he decided to pursue teaching. Perhaps most closely associated with his loyalty and competition with Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo, this is a man with pace and clearly good taste. Aston and Alfa? The man thinks he’s James Bond!

Enlisting the services of a driver tutor is about so much more than just knocking seconds off of a lap time. It is about instilling confidence and good practice. With professional help the speed will come; but of equal importance, so will safety and all round car control.
