Pirelli to continue as sole GT Cup tyre supplier and sponsor

6th October 2017

Bute Motorsport is delighted to announce that its strong relationship with Pirelli is set to continue unhindered, as the Italian tyre manufacturer will remain the sole supplier and sponsor for the GT Cup Championship in 2018 and 2019.

The series continues to provide a welcoming and challenging environment for sporting drivers wishing to compete in modern sportscar racing, with an impressive 15 different winners across the four Groups this year, with three races still to run.

GT Cup has been celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2017 since founder Marc Haynes created it for like-minded racers. In the past eight years the Championship has run on Pirelli tyres, with enormous success and to great effect.

Bute Motorsport believes that Pirelli offers the best complete solution for such a mixed marque championship and its continuing popularity among the teams and drivers stands as testimony to mutual success both now and into the future.

Pirelli currently provides a range of slick and wet tyres to competitors, based upon the needs of each entrant and the range of machinery entered. The manufacturer will continue to provide technical support and tyre quality, which results in confidence among the paddock, and Bute Motorsport is therefore delighted to ratify the sponsorship and tyre supply deal.

“We look forward to continuing our close partnership with Pirelli into the future,” said Chris Haynes, Managing Director of Bute Motorsport. “Pirelli has been incredibly supportive of GT Cup since the start of our partnership, and offers our Championship the best option on the track. I am delighted our relationship continues to provide our drivers with the stability and reliability that we all want to see. The future for GT Cup is resoundingly and reassuringly set with Pirelli.”

“We are pleased to be continuing our long-standing support of GT Cup and its competitors,” said Jonathan Wells, Pirelli UK Motorsport Manager. “The wide variety of different cars raced in the championship makes for an exciting spectacle on track, and also helps us to demonstrate the versatility of our products using the knowledge gained from supplying tyres to numerous GT series around the globe.”

The GT Cup Championship heads to Snetterton for rounds 20, 21, and 22 – the final races of the 2017 season – on October 14/15. The full 2018 calendar will be published in due course.
