T-Sport return to Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup with Allos and Kapadia

T-Sport returns to the Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup as the Championship heads to Donington Park for its finale this weekend (September 16/17), taking in rounds 11 and 12 of the inaugural season.

The Brackley-based team competed in the opening two rounds, also held at Donington Park, fielding a car for Steve Tandy and ex-Formula One racer Karun Chandhok. On that occasion the pair claimed a debut podium, taking third place in the race one.

Climbing behind the wheel this time out will be experienced racers Manhal Allos and Alex Kapadia. Alex has a wealth of prototype driving knowledge and has competed in the European Le Mans Series and the Road to Le Mans race this year, finishing an impressive third, as well as making his Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup debut at Silverstone in July alongside Dean Gibbs.

Manhal has been racing a Radical since 2009 where he first met Alex. Last year he finished second in the Euromasters championship with four victories and 13 podium finishes. He gained his first experience of the Ligier JS P3 car at Snetterton least month when he tested the car with T-Sport.

“I’m really looking for a new challenge in something that is closer to a Le Mans Prototype than I’ve raced so far,” said Manhal. “The Snetterton test was the first time I tried the car and it was the first time I have driven a racing car with a roof. I managed to get to grips with it straight away, and I’m looking forward to Donington Park.”

“We tested with Manhal at Snetterton and it went well,” said Team Principal Russell Eacott. “He has since come back and said he wants to race at Donington. After that, getting Alex along was a bit of a no brainer. We’ve known Alex for what seems like years but we’ve never had him in one of our cars. Funnily enough we shared the same house at Le Mans this year so it’s great to have him the car.

“We are happy that we can be out for the season finale. We are hoping that it will generate interest for the 2018 season and running cars in the Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup.”

“Manhal and I have raced in Radicals for a couple of years,” added Alex Kapadia. ”He was keen to try the LMP3 Cup before the end of the year and this opportunity with T-Sport allowed that to happen. He’s a very quick Bronze driver and it’s a good opportunity. He has always shown himself to be a fast learner so it will be good to see how we get on.”
