21st February 2017

West Surrey Racing BMW have confirmed that Rob Collard will remain with the team for the 2017 British Touring Car Championship season.

The 48-year-old driver from Hampshire will contest his tenth campaign for the team. Collard delivered a strong performance last season and had been leading the title charge early on before finishing the season in 5th place in the drivers’ standings.

He is the only WSR driver confirmed for 2017 that raced with the team last season. 2013 series champion Andrew Jordan and 2009 and 2014 title winner Colin Turkington complete the new look line-up for the Dick Bennetts operation.

Sam Tordoff, who finished runner-up in the title race in 2016, has departed BTCC to join the British GT series. Jack Goff who also raced the team’s BMW 125i M Sport last season has made the switch to Eurotech Racing for the forthcoming season.

Collard’s 5th place in 2016 matched his 2009 performance and remains his highest ranking in the standings. He has amassed 13 wins since joining the series in 2000.
