OPENTRACK

H
ere at MSD, we had high
expectations ahead of
the Opentrack track day
back in August. The readers who
voted in last year’s awards had
only good things to say about this
track day organiser; from the free
tuition on offer to the complimen-
tary doughnuts, the Opentrack
approach certainly seems to be
keeping people happy. One of the
voters’ comments really struck a
chord: “If Carlsberg did track
TOP-CLASS TRACK DAYS
IN LAST YEAR’S MOTORSPORT DAYS AWARDS,
OPENTRACK WAS VOTED ‘TRACK DAY ORGANISER
OF THE YEAR’ BY OUR READERS, SO WE DECIDED TO

days, they would be Opentrack
track days”.
According to Dave Woodall, who
runs the track days, Opentrack
has always been keen to avoid
the “Poundland” approach of “fill
them up and sell them cheap”.
MSD couldn’t help but notice
that the track days on offer some-
times cost more than Opentrack’s
competitors’ events, but Woodall
explained that the all-inclusive
approach on offer means Open-
track’s model benefits track day
users. “You’re right, our headline
cost isn’t always the cheapest in
the marketplace, but we are more
than confident that we offer the
best value out there,” he says. “A
hard core of loyal clients – some of
whom attend almost every day in
our calendar – is the proof of that.
“We keep add-on costs to an ab-
solute minimum. At an Opentrack
day tuition, snacks, drinks and
event photography are included in
the day’s cost. This makes a sig-
nificant difference to the real cost
of the day. We give you access to
some of the UK’s best instructors,
who can help you develop your
driving whether you’re a newcom-
er or a seasoned track driver.”
